This 400 seat church is the first phase of a campus master plan commissioned by St. Mary Our Lady of the Dunes, a parish in Southern Oregon. As dictated by the master plan, the existing church will become the hall and the existing hall will become new classrooms when the project is complete. Pews, arranged in a half circle around the raised sanctuary, allow the worshipers to see each other and be closer to the altar. Housed under a structure of wood trusses, columns and ceiling, the space is designed to highlight the gathering. Natural light is allowed to penetrate through a series of clerestory windows which also provide natural ventilation. Board and batten siding, simple pitched roof, and brown color tie the new building to the existing Parish architecture.
